Emerging from the unlikely locale of Cornwall, the most westerly county in England, this indie pop quartet warmed the hearts of many music lovers with one of the debut albums of 2004. Formed at the start of the new millennium by Will South (2 February 1983, England; vocals/piano), Tom Welham (b. 14 May 1983, England; guitar/vocals) and Adam Wilson (b. 18 September 1982, England; bass), the young trio started off playing acoustic sets in local pubs before expanding their line-up with the addition of Brendon James (b. 30 June 1983, Truro, Cornwall, England; drums). They continued to struggle on the local circuit while writing and recording their own material. Things began to look up when the band’s demo Falls In The Dark attracted the attention of several London-based record companies, and they were visited in their home county by a number of representatives. A contract with Mercury Records ensued and the quartet made the trip to London to finish recording work...
