Biography

Formed in Essex, England, in 1985, the Wolfhounds’ first recording line-up featured Dave Callahan (vocals), Andrew Bolton (bass), Paul Clark (guitar), Andrew Golding (guitar) and Frank Stebbing (drums). Having spent their formative months supporting dubious pub and punk rock bands around London, the Wolfhounds became fortuitously involved in the New Musical Express’ C86 venture. Toying with a gritty, angular guitar framework over which Callahan’s vocals wandered, the Wolfhounds were famed for having as many labels as album releases; they bounced from Pink Records to Idea and on through September and Midnight Music Records, fittingly experiencing an alarming number of personnel changes.
