Biography
This US band was formed in Eureka, North California, USA in 1970. The line-up featured Bob Segarini (vocals/guitar), Randy Bishop (vocals/guitar), Michael Stull (vocals/guitar), Bill Kootch Troachim (bass/vocals) and Spencer Earnshaw (drums). Segarini was a veteran of a multitude of Bay Area groups, including the Family Tree and Roxy. Troachim was a member of the former, Bishop the latter, and the Wackers drew on this experience to create a sound which blended Beatlesque melody lines with classic Californian sunshine harmonies. Their second album, 1972s Hot Wacks, showcased the band at its best, a feature enhanced by Gary Ushers exemplary production. Doomed to commercial indifference in the USA, the Wackers settled in Montreal, Canada, where they had been recording. J.P.
