Biography
This Oakland, California, USA garage rock band was put together by veterans of popular Bay Area outfits including the St. James Infirmary, the Cuts, and the PeeChees, the latter the former home of live wire lead singer Christopher Appelgren. With Jason Rosenberg (guitar), Andy Asp (guitar), Carson Bell (bass) and Scott Batiste (drums) completing the line-up, the Pattern made their recording debut in January 2001 with the 7-inch Non-Stop EP, that went some way to capturing on record their ferocious live act, albeit without the visual impact of seeing Appelgren at his manic best. Two further EPs followed for the GSL and Alternative Tentacles labels as the Patterns word-of-mouth reputation began to spread, prompting the release of the mini-album Immediately via the London, England-based Wichita Recordings and Applegrens own Lookout!
