The Crescendors

Decades Active: 1950s

Formed in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, in 1957, the Crescendos were a vocal quintet including high school friends lead singer George Lanuis, his cousin Jim, Kenneth Brigham, Tommy Fortner and Jimmy Hall. Discovered by disc jockey Noel Ball, they signed with the local Nasco label and recorded ‘Oh Julie’, a song co-written by Ball. The single climbed to number 5 in the US chart but the group’s three follow-up singles failed. Although they toured following the single’s success, the group went its separate ways within a year.
