Biography
Teresa Cristina di Sampa, 12 February 1968, Bonsucesso, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. In Rio de Janeiro Cristina became popular in the Lapa section of bars and restaurants and was a regular at the citys Bar Semente, from which her band, Grupo Semente, takes its name. In the mid-00s, Grupo Sementes personnel included Pedro Miranda (pandeiro/vocals), Bernardo Dantas (acoustic guitar), João Callado (cavaquinho) and Trambique (percussion). Cristina, who is married to Dantas, has built her repertoire from a base of raíz, xote, baião, and especially samba, all slanted towards contemporary pop. As a result of this her audience ranges through all ages.
