Biography
Theodore Malcolm Nash, 31 October 1922, Somerville, Massachusetts, USA. Nash began playing saxophone as a child, taking up tenor and alto. In the mid-40s, now mostly playing tenor, he was with Les Browns Band Of Renown, touring and recording. He also played with Jerry Gray, one of a handful of late swing era bands that survived into the early 50s, albeit mostly as a recording outfit. During the 50s Nash was in considerable demand from similarly-minded band leaders, playing with Billy May and Ray Anthony among many, and also leading his own band with which he recorded. Throughout succeeding decades Nash was active in the studios, playing for radio and films but mainly for television. A strikingly good technician, Nash has written tutors and by example alone has set high standards of performance. His younger brother is Dick Nash.
