Supersister - Robert Jan Stips (keyboards), Sacha Van Guest (wind instruments), Ron Van Eck (bass) and Marco Vrolijk (drums) - were one of Holland’s leading groups of the early progressive era. Present From Nancy was a highly captivating release, blending extended instrumental improvisation and haunting melodies in the manner of Soft Machine and Caravan. Their work was popularised in the UK by BBC radio disc jockey John Peel who issued the group’s next album, To The Highest Bidder on his own label, Dandelion Records. Pudding And Gisteren saw Supersister rely more heavily on musical dexterity and as a result the collection lacked the warmth of its predecessors. Vrolijk was replaced by Herman Van Boeyen for Iskander. A second woodwind player, Charlie Mariano, was also added to the line-up while Pierre Moerlen contributed percussion to a highly textured, yet emotionally cold, release.
