Biography
8 February 1960, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. This enormously talented bass player is probably better known for his work as a member of Joe Satrianis touring band, but has also released a series of fine solo recordings. Radio Free Albemuth (1988) displayed Hamms virtuoso abilities as he tackled Beethovens Moonlight Sonata and a Debussy composition, but also aired some fine jazz rock-flavoured material, showing admirable restraint in only adopting the lead role periodically, and concentrating on superb rhythm playing and song integrity as guests Satriani and Allan Holdsworth added colour. Hamm adopted a funkier element in his playing on the following years Kings Of Sleep, with the stunning Black Ice demonstrating a remarkable ability to both drive and enhance a song through his dextrous rhythm-playing.
