Formed in 2002 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, this metalcore band originally comprised T.J Miller (vocals), Steve Schallert (guitar), Jordan Gilliam (guitar), Zach Roth (keyboards). Evan Willey (bass) and Cameron Macintosh (drums), although A.J. Barrett quickly replaced the latter. After the underground success of their two EPs, 2003’s Dying With A Smile and 2004’s If Love Was Born To Die, they signed to Roadrunner Records in 2005. Schallert and Gilliam also made way for Mike Church and Jordan Whelan. Combining hardcore metal with strident synthesizers, the sextet created a melodic balance to the aggressive thumping double bass drum pedals and unison guitar riffs. The band became increasingly popular after the release of their album debut, Of Love And Lunacy in May 2005, with the single ‘The Worst Is Yet To Come’ receiving airplay on rock radio stations and television channels.
