Biography
1961, San Antonio, Texas, USA. The younger sister of Steve Earle, Stacey grew up in an affluent middle class home in southern Texas, the daughter of an air traffic controller father and property administrator mother. Often the siblings would run away together, although Stacey insists they would always call home to ensure their parents knew they were safe. While Steve set out on his personal odyssey of inspired nouveau country songwriting and scrapes with the law and substance abuse, Stacey contented herself with early motherhood. In fact, she made no serious move to take up singing until she travelled to see one of Steves Nashville shows when she was 29 (ostensibly to baby-sit one of his children). Stacey ended up staying for several months as Steve went through his divorce, and he eventually asked his sister to contribute backing vocals to his records and join him on tour.
