An intriguing combination of introspective ambient textures (though they abhorred the term) and propulsive guitars distinguished Seefeel’s career. Guitarist and songwriter Mark Clifford answered an advert that Justin Fletcher (drums) had placed on a notice-board at Goldsmith’s College, London. They added Darren ‘Delores Throb’ Seymour (bass) and set about auditioning over 70 hopefuls for the singer’s joIn the end Clifford responded to another ad: ‘Wanting to join or form band into My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth’, and called ex-animation student Sarah Peacock, who had placed it. As her tastes reflected Seefeel’s personal creed, a distillation of My Bloody Valentine’s guitar abuse with ambient’s drone, she was immediately taken on board.
