Biography
Brothers Robin (guitar, banjo, vocals) and Barry Dransfield (fiddle, guitar, mandolin, gimbri, cello, vocals), both born in Harrogate, Yorkshire, England, are popular folk traditionalists who enjoyed a high profile during the 70s. They began singing and playing together in 1962, as part of a Leeds-based bluegrass band, the Crimple Mountain Boys. The group only lasted for three years, at the end of which Robin and Barry decided to concentrate on indigenous British music. Barry turned professional in 1966, having been a civil servant. Robin waited until 1969 before joining him, having performed in clubs while holding down a teaching post. Rout Of The Blues, its title track the first song they had worked on together, was released by Bill Leader Records in 1970.
