29 January 1934, London, England. Harrison’s career was furnished with both the best and worst start by the long shadow of Rex Harrison, his famous father. Before capitulating to full-time acting too, Noel - an urbane and accomplished singer and guitarist - was well known on the British folk club circuit before achieving his only hit in 1969. Assisted by its inclusion in The Thomas Crown Affair film soundtrack, ‘Windmills Of Your Mind’ peaked at number 8 in the UK charts, but only ‘A Young Girl’ elicited further interest, although Harrison also recorded three singer-songwriter albums for Reprise Records. Having tested the thespian waters with a minor appearance in television’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and a starring role in the spin-off The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. series, Harrison took over from Tommy Steele in a touring production of Half A Sixpence.
