A short-lived but pivotal California-based country outfit, Nashville West included a former member of the Kentucky Colonels, Clarence White (Clarence LeBlanc, 7 June 1944, Lewiston, Maine, USA, d. 14 July 1973, Palmdale, California, USA; guitar), and three ex-members of the Castaways - Wayne Moore (guitar, bass, vocals), Gene Parsons (b. Eugene Victor Parsons, 4 September 1944, Los Angeles, California, USA; drums/vocals) and Gib Guilbeau (b. Floyd Guilbeau, 26 September 1937, Sunset, Louisiana, USA; fiddle/vocals). Popular in Bakersfield and El Monte’s Nashville West club, the quartet’s archive recordings reveal a mixture of contemporary hits (‘By The Time I Get To Phoenix’, ‘Ode To Billie Joe’) and country favourites (‘Send Me Back Home’, ‘Sweet Mental Revenge’).
