Biography

Margaret Hoeffler, 1926, Norfolk, Virginia, USA. Day had a giant impact in the R&B market for two years, 1950-51, when she hit with ‘Street-Walkin’ Daddy’ (number 7 R&B) and ‘Little Red Rooster’ (number 5 R&B) as lead singer of the Griffin Brothers Orchestra. In 1952 she left the Griffin Brothers and joined the Paul Williams band. In 1964 she briefly retired from the music business and returned to Norfolk. There she joined the Dick Morgan Trio, and in the late 60s made two albums of standards for RCA. In 1969 after becoming ill she retired permanently from showbusiness.
