Biography
12 August 1943, Stockton-on-Tees, England. This singer and songwriter, who first recorded in 1963, became popular in the commercial side of the folk music field in the early 70s. Although starting out as a songwriter, and married to record producer Jimmy Horowitz, she became better known for her work as a session singer, especially during the 60s and 70s. She had sung backing vocals on a number of hits including Goo Goo Barabajagal (Donovan), and Back Off Boogaloo (Ringo Starr) and had participated on a vast amounts of albums Dusty Springfield, the UK Nirvana and Elton John. It was his version of her composition Love Song, on Tumbleweed Connection, that inspired her to record Sing Children Sing. That and her other albums suffered from a lack of commercial success, which was at odds with her huge popularity as a backing singer on a host of albums by acts as diverse as Long John Baldry, Tim Hardin, Donovan, the Alan Parsons Project...
