Biography
This German-based pop/dance act, comprising American vocalists Lane McCray Jnr. and Melanie Thornton (1967, USA, d. 24 November 2001, Switzerland), achieved instant success when their debut single, Sweet Dreams, became a European bestseller and topped the German charts, selling over half a million copies in the process. An accompanying album of the same title was also released in 1995, and rose to number 5 in the German charts. The duo then broached the American market with the number 6 single Be My Lover, followed by further hits with Sweet Dreams and Fallin In Love. The act was produced by Uli Brenner and Amir Saraf, who also enjoyed considerable success and international acclaim as the creative force behind Le Click. Thornton subsequently launched a solo career, but in November 2001 she was tragically killed when the plane she was travelling on between Berlin and Zurich crashed in the woods close to Zurich...
