Biography
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Best known in college rock circles as the long standing singer and guitarist of the Atlanta, Georgia, USA-based roots rock outfit Drivin’ N’ Cryin’, Kevn Kinney has also issued several solo releases over the years. Kinney’s solo albums are largely folk-based affairs, especially when compared to the rough and tumble rock of his full-time band. The line between a Kinney solo release and one from Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ often gets blurred, owing to the fact that all of Kinney’s band members have been known to back him on his solo releases. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Kinney moved to Atlanta in 1982, forming Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ four years later. The band has issued a number of strong albums, including 1991’s Fly Me Courageous, but has never managed to break out of their cult status.
