Biography
1954, USA. Starting out singing in church in the south, by the early 80s and now resident in Chicago, Illinois, Davis continued to sing in church choirs and gospel groups but also sang blues and jazz in clubs. Concurrently, she studied opera at Chicagos Sherwood Conservatory of Music, developing her vocal skills through the classical repertoire. She also performed in the theatre, taking leading roles in the Kuumba Theaters 1984 production of In The House Of The Blues. Concentrating her talents upon jazz, she worked with artists such as Jim Beebe and Truck Parham, performing mainly in the Chicago area. Her blues work continued alongside this and she appeared at blues festivals in Chicago and Montreal, Canada. In addition to her performing career, Davis also works in education.
