Biography
1973, Brownsville, Texas, USA. Although born blind, Trevino took a very early interest in music, listening to country music on record and learning to play guitar from the age of seven. Raised in Austin, he was sufficiently proficient to lead his own high school band when he was 13. The band played semi-professional in and around Austin and three years on he was hired by Johnny Bush to play at a San Antonio gig during which Trevino sang most of the songs in the show for the leader who was unwell. Trevinos singing voice, a fine, liquid tenor, proved especially attractive for country ballads and he soon developed a devoted following. Bush later became a mentor to the young singer, as did Don Walser and Cornell Hurd, with both of whom he has also played. Other influences include Wanda Jackson and Jimmy C. Newman.
