Biography
18 September 1954, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Santos Neto studied classical piano from early childhood, but was soon taking an interest in pop and played with a local rock group. Later, after graduating from university with a degree in biology, he conducted post-graduate studies at Montreals McGill University. There, he began appreciating jazz and music began to feature more than biology as a career prospect. From the late 70s through to the early 90s Santo Neto played in Hermeto Pascoals band with which he appeared on Zabumbê-Bum-Á (1978), Ao Vivo Em Montreux (1979), Só Não Toca Quem Não Quer (1987) and Festa Dos Deuses (1992) among many releases. Other musicians with whom he worked include Kaila Flexer, Mike Marshall, Sergio Mendes, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, Paul Rucker, Phil Thompson.
