Biography
Dennis Leigh, Chorley, Lancashire, England. Foxx moved to London in 1974 where he became a key instigator in the rise of the UK electro pop scene. He was a founder member of Ultravox, with whom he wrote, sang and dabbled in synthetic noises. Gary Numan cited Foxx as his main influence, which was some consolation for the fact that Numan was having hits when Ultravox were dropped by Island Records in 1978. They subsequently regrouped, without Foxx but with new singer Midge Ure, and enjoyed great success during the 80s with a string of synth-pop singles. Foxx went solo in 1979 and formed his own label Metal Beat, distributed by Virgin Records. The infectious Underpass began a short string of minor Top 40 UK hits that included further electronic pop classics No-One Driving, Burning Car and Europe After The Rain.
