Biography

c.1906. Little is known about this vocalist/pianist other than that he recorded his first tracks for the Bluebird Records label in New Orleans in 1935, at a session he shared with Little Brother Montgomery. Thereafter, his work appeared on Vocalion Records and OKeh Records, having being recorded in Chicago. He is rumoured to have recorded again in 1961, with his old partner Walter Vincson, as part of a re-formed Mississippi Sheiks. His somewhat loose piano style and choice of material has given rise to speculation that he may have been from Mississippi.
