Jennifer Marcella Peña Cantú, 17 September 1983, San Antonio, Texas, USA. Tejano singer Peña emerged in the mid-90s as the young successor to the late Latin pop superstar Selena. By the start of the following decade, her major commercial success on the EMI-Latin and Univision labels had established her as one of the major Latin pop stars of the new century.

Peña began performing as a child and before she had reached her early teens had signed a management deal with Q-Productions, which had previously been associated with Selena. Still not officially a teenager, Peña came to wider attention when she performed at a tribute concert to Selena in Houston, Texas. She signed a recording contract with EMI-Latin and released a series of popular Latin albums in partnership with Los Jetz.
