Biography

Inner Circle first emerged in the early 70s playing gigs at holiday hotels in Jamaica. The group comprised brothers Ian and Roger Lewis (guitars) and three future members of Third World, Stephen ‘Cat’ Coore (6 April 1950, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies), Richard Daley and Michael ‘Ibo’ Cooper. As Third World reassembled, the Lewis brothers recruited drummer Calvin McKenzie, keyboard players Charles Farquharson and Bernard ‘Touter’ Harvey. Together they won the prestigious Best Band Contest on the Johnny Golding Show. Although they later enjoyed only moderately successful album sales and a hit single, ‘I See You’, it was not until the brothers brought in singer Jacob Miller (b. c.1955, Jamaica, West Indies, d. 23 March 1980) that they became a viable commercial proposition.
