Biography
This German quartets funk metal style comes across as a heavier and more explosive version of No Doubts ska-influenced rock. Comprising Sandra Nasic (vocals), Henning Rümenapp (guitar), Stefan Ude (bass), Dennis Poschwatta (drums), Guano Apes originally formed during 1994 in their home town of Goettingen, Germany. Influenced by Primus and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the quartets first break came two years after their formation, when they took the top spot at a Local Heroes competition held by VIVA (Germany's leading music television station). Shortly thereafter, Guano Apes issued a single, Open Your Eyes, that became a substantial hit in Germany, peaking inside the Top 10.
