29 December 1967, Costa Rica, Sinaloa, Mexico. While she was still very young, Beltrán and her mother moved to the USA, settling in Los Angeles. Singing from very early childhood, she built a reputation as a leading performer of traditional Mexican music although as time passed, she skilfully slanted this for contemporary audiences. Beltrán achieved a high reputation, becoming known as La Reina Del Pueblo (Queen of the Town) and her records sold extremely well, the 1995 recording Tesoro reaching double platinum. Songs in Beltrán’s repertoire include ‘Ya No Te Necesito’, ‘El Bato Gacho’, ‘Ya No Regresare’, ‘O Ella O Yo’, ‘Promesas No’, ‘Curada De Espantos’, ‘ Animas Que No Amanezca’, ‘Tesoro’, ‘Pilares De Cristal’, ‘Mi Corazon Es Tuyo’ and ‘Sentimiento De Dolor’.
