Biography

Hard rock band Goddo were formed in Canada in the late 70s after bass player and vocalist Greg Godovitz had left his previous employers, the briefly successful pop band Fludd. Together with Gino Scarpelli (guitar) and Doug Inglis (drums), Goddo allowed him to indulge his twin passions - one for dynamic, gritty rock music and the other for articulate but esoteric lyrics. The group’s irreverent sense of humour was celebrated in their album titles as well as lyrics, and each of their three albums for Polydor Records in the late 70s impressed with their musical adventurousness. By the 80s the group had switched to Attic Records, but neither Pretty Bad Boys nor the live set, Live, Best Seat In The House, managed to secure mainstream success. This was a great pity, as Godovitz remains one of Canada’s unsung talents, a genuine maverick in the contemporary recording industry.
