Flying Saucer Attack
This experimental post-rock outfit was formed in Bristol, England by multi-instrumentalist Dave Pearce and bass player Rachel Brook. The two members had originally played in Lyndas Strange Vacation alongside Matt Elliot and Kate Wright, but set up the Flying Saucer Attack project in 1992 to pursue their interest in lo-fi four-track home-recording. The duo initially released the Soaring High/Standing Stone and Wish/Oceans singles on their own FSA label. Their vinyl-only long-playing debut, released in November 1993, drew praise for an experimental edge which drew on the work of musical mentors Popol Vuh and Can, as well as the feedback drenched psychedelia of contemporaries Spacemen 3 and My Bloody Valentine.
