Bray, Dublin, Eire. This singer-songwriter moved to the UK from his native Dublin in the early 00s, shortly after the release of his debut single, Little Miss Drunk. Regan began playing piano and guitar in his early teens, while musical heroes such as Neil Young and Tom Waits informed his nascent songwriting efforts. Based in the seaside town of Bray on the outskirts of Dublin, his folk-based act began to attract a cult following on the citys music scene. The independent Anvil Records label released Little Miss Drunk and 2004s Hotel Room EP, by which point Regan had taken up residence in Brighton on the south coast of England. He subsequently signed to the independent Bella Union Records label and worked on his debut album, The End Of History, utilising analogue equipment and recording in such unlikely locations as a shed and a barn.
