Biography
Richard Brice, 4 November 1929, London, England, d. 6 May 1971, Wales. An extremely popular singer in the UK during the 50s. At the age of three, Valentine appeared in the Jack Hulbert / Cicely Courtneidge comedy film Jacks The Boy. Later, as a backstage assistant at Her Majestys Theatre in London, he became the protégé of Canadian stage star Bill OConnor, who sent him for singing tuition. After playing the club circuit as a singer/impressionist Valentine made his debut with the successful Ted Heath band in a broadcast from Aeolian Hall. Initially, Heath featured him as a straight ballad vocalist, but later allowed him to display his range of impressions, including those of Mario Lanza, Nat King Cole, Billy Daniels and an accurate parody of Johnnie Ray.
