Biography
Kansas City, Missouri, USA. An extensive traveller, Browns reputation as a jazz vocalist is truly worldwide. In addition to touring throughout her homeland, she has also worked in Japan and other Far Eastern countries, while her European reputation was greatly enhanced by the fact that she lived there for a dozen years. She has appeared at all manner of venues, including nightclubs, concert halls and jazz festivals, as well as appearing on television and radio. Her versatility is demonstrated by her work, often on record, with large studio orchestras, including the Metropole Orchestra in the Netherlands, and in the intimate setting of duos, among the latter being sessions with pianists Dorothy Donegan, Roger Kellaway and Cedar Walton, as well as, unusually, trombonist Slide Hampton.
