Biography
Regarded as stalwarts of the new Irish tradition, Déanta comprises Mary Dillon (vocals, harp), Kate OBrien (harp, vocals), Clodagh Warnock (bodhran, mandola), Rosie Mulholland (keyboards), Eoghan OBrien (harp, guitar; ex-Upstairs In A Tent) and Deirdre Havilland (flute), though this was only the latest in a series of line-ups. Other musicians were regularly exchanged with near neighbours Oige, while the stated personnel were also limited in their activities by primary careers as dentists, pharmacists, computer analysts and music teachers. A debut cassette album was recorded in 1990 but was sold only at live gatherings, though it was later licensed by Green Linnet Records when the group toured the USA. It included vibrant traditional songs such as The Green Fields Of Canada, while Cold Grey Fairyland encased fears of the pollution from Sellafield into a haunting childrens lullaby.
