Biography
This acoustic based US duo serves as a side project to the alternative roots rock outfit, the Walkabouts. Comprised of singers/guitarists, Chris Eckman and Carla Torgerson, the Seattle-based duo had been together since the mid-80s, but by the beginning of the following decade Eckman and Torgerson decided to indulge in a more folk-based sound, officially forming Chris And Carla in 1993. The pair decided to issue an in-concert release first (recorded at a gig in Germany), 1993s Shelter For An Evening, an album which featured a smattering of originals alongside cover versions such as Neil Youngs On The Beach and Bob Dylans Maggies Farm. Chris And Carlas first proper studio recording, Life Full Of Holes, featured contributions by guests such as R.E.M.s Peter Buck and members of the Tindersticks.
