Biography

29 September 1967, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, England. Anderson achieved major success as the lead singer of 90s indie rock band Suede, with his androgynous style and theatrical tales of low-rent life defining him as one of the key figures of the Britpop era. His extra-curricular activities while with Suede included guest appearances on albums by Jane Birkin and Stina Nordenstam. With Suede put on indefinite hiatus at the end of 2003, Anderson surprised many observers by embarking on a collaboration with his creative foil in the early years of Suede, guitarist Bernard Butler. The project, named the Tears, received plenty of critical acclaim but was largely ignored by the general public, and was put on hold following a tour to promote Here Come The Tears.
