Biography
Of all the early 80s west coast outfits to profess a liking for psychedelia, the Three OClock were the most overtly pop-influenced. From Sun Valley, California, USA, Michael Quercio (lead vocals/bass), Louis Gutierrez (guitar; ex-Youth Brigade) and Mike Mariano (keyboards) released their 1982 debut as Salvation Army, but were forced to change their name following a threat of legal action from the real Salvation Army. Renamed Three OClock, and with the addition of drummer Danny Benair, they released the Baroque Hoedown EP and 1983s Sixteen Tambourines (which appeared in Europe on the French label Lolita). Riding on the crest of the so-called paisley underground wave of publicity, the album created enough of a stir to clinch a contract with I.R.S. Records, who released Arriving Without Travelling.
