Biography

24 October 1947, Dayton, Ohio, USA. Raised in Hollywood, Florida, Gibson performed from early childhood. She studied dance and singing and while still in school was appearing professionally. She extended her studies in college meanwhile maintaining her connection with showbusiness by performing at local clubs and theatres. She toured the USA and also visited Canada and Cuba. In 1981 Gibson relocated from her Florida base to New Orleans, where she led her own jazz band. In addition to performing in the city, she continued to tour and also made several albums for her own Swing Out Records. She appeared regularly on radio and television and from the mid-80s visited Europe, first with Wild Bill Davison and later with her own band, the New Orleans Hot Jazz, and she also visited Australia.
