Biography
Annette Funicello, 22 October 1942, Utica, New York, USA. Initially billed as Annette, this singer/actress rose to fame under the aegis of the Walt Disney organization. A one-time Mousketeer - the last of the original group who appeared on The Mickey Mouse Club - she enjoyed several hit singles between 1959 and 1961 which included two US Top 10 entries, Tall Paul and O Dio Mio, as well as the enduring Pineapple Princess. During the 60s Annette starred alongside Frankie Avalon in a series of quickie beach films, including Beach Party, Bikini Beach (both 1964) andHow To Stuff A Wild Bikini (1965), which combined slim plots, teenage themes and cameos from pop stars. The Monkeys Uncle (1964) drew its appeal from an appearance by the Beach Boys and musical contributions from their leader, Brian Wilson.
