Biography
This politically motivated, hardline punk quartet formed in 1977, in South Shields, England. They were the brainchild of Mensi (Thomas Mensforth; vocals), and strongly influenced by the Clash, Damned and Sex Pistols. With Mond (guitar), Ronnie Wooden (bass) and Sticks (drums) completing the line-up, they signed to the independent Small Wonder label who re-released their underground classic The Murder Of Liddle Towers in 1978. The song condemned police brutality and identified strongly with the youth culture of the day. It led to a contract with Warner Brothers Records, which produced Teenage Warning and We Gotta Get Out Of This Place in 1979 and 1980, respectively. Both these albums are regarded by some within the punk community as classics, featuring provocative lyrics that ridiculed the politics of the government under Margaret Thatcher.
