Biography
Canada. Best known as the drummer for Ani DiFrancos band from the early to late 90s (as well as session work for other renowned artists), Stochansky is also a multi-instrumentalist and solo artist, specializing in a mainstream form of singer-songwriter folk rock. Stochansky was a teenage disc jockey at one of Torontos leading college radio stations, while studying both music and film at the Ontario College of Art and Design (he also composed the music for his own films around this time). When he began to receive enticing offers to play drums with other musicians, Stochansky put his solo interests on hold and played and/or recorded with artists such as the Indigo Girls, Janis Ian, Jane Siberry, and Jonathan Richman among others. It was his tenure with DiFranco that proved to the most fruitful and long lasting however, appearing on recordings such as 1993s Puddle Dive, 1995s Not A Pretty Girl, 1997s Living In Clip, and 1999s Up Up...
