The Soul Survivors Biography

Vocalists Kenneth Jeremiah, Richard Ingui and Charles Ingui were a New York-based singing group, the Dedications, prior to adding backing musicians Paul Venturini (organ), Edward Leonetti (guitar) and Joey Forgione (drums). The sextet took the name the Soul Survivors in 1966 and secured a US Top 5 hit the following year with "Expressway To Your Heart". This all-white group was produced by the emergent Gamble And Huff team, but subsequent releases, including the similar-sounding "Explosion In Your Soul", were less successful and they split up. The Ingui brothers resurrected the name during the 70s, but despite signing to their former mentor's TSOP label, were unable to rekindle their former profile. Jeremiah later joined Shirley Goodman in Shirley & Company.
