Shane Barnard (Texas, USA) and Shane Everett (b. Dallas, Texas, USA) enjoyed success on the praise-and-worship scene in the early 00s, with their music also crossing over to the mainstream charts. Barnard had originally recorded as a solo act and in a duo with Caleb Carruth. He met Everett while both men were still students at Texas A&M University, and although Everett originally served as a backing musician on Barnards solo releases they began to record as a duo with 2002s Psalms (credited to Shane Barnard And Shane Everett). They adopted the Shane And Shane moniker on 2003s Carry Away, with this album and the quickly released follow-ups, 2004s Upstairs and 2005s Clean, peddling a pleasing acoustic pop musical backing to their praise-and-worship lyrics. The duo enjoyed a strong following on the college scene and toured extensively throughout North America. They took a break from recording at the end of 2005 to concentrate on running their Dallas-based studio. Although, at the end of 2007 they released Pages, a live CD and DVD which indicated a move away from strictly devotional lyrics.
