Nelson Biography

The twin sons of early rock 'n' roll star Rick Nelson and wife Kris, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson were born on 20 September 1967, Los Angeles, California, USA. Musically inclined as children, the boys learned to play bass and drums as well as singing. Their father booked studio time for them on their 12th birthday, and they recorded a self-penned song with vocal backing by the Pointer Sisters. By the early 80s the twins had joined a heavy metal band called Strange Agents, which later changed its name to the Nelsons. In 1990, now simply called Nelson, the twins, both sporting waist-length blond hair (which saw them nicknamed the "Timotei Twins"), signed with David Geffen's new DGC record label and recorded a self-titled pop-rock album. The first single release, "(Can't Live Without Your) Love And Affection", reached number 1 in the US charts, while the album made the US Top 20. Afterwards, however, press reaction remained hostile towards any return. In 2001 they did return, adding an "s" to their name and changing genres to country rock.
