Mercy Biography
Formed by Jack Sigler Jnr. (1950, Tampa, Florida, USA) in the late 60s, Mercy enjoyed one best-selling single in 1969, the ballad "Love (Can Make You Happy)". Following several membership changes (Sigler the only remaining original), the band were heard by movie producer George Roberts. He used the group's future hit, penned by Sigler, in a film called Fireball Jungle, but the film was never released. The group managed to place the single with the small Sundi label and, with distribution via Warner Brothers, made it to number 2 on the national US charts. The group managed one further minor chart single and an album before they disbanded owing to lack of commercial success.
