M.C. Trouble Biography

LaTasha Rogers, 23 August 1972, d. 1991. MC Trouble became Motown Records' first female rapper when she appeared in 1990 with a debut album and attendant singles ("High Roller" etc) at the tender age of 18. Backed by the soul undertow more familiar with the label, her rhymes were contrastingly harsh and cutting. Trouble's talents were obvious to many. Above and beyond being a talented contemporary rapper, she was also responsible for writing, arranging and producing her debut set. Her conscious raps included the likes of "Black Line", which parodied black talk shows, while in a romantic mode cuts like "Make You Mine" were offered a smooth, soulful sheen. A guest appearance by Full Force was pleasing but incidental. She passed away in 1991 after suffering an epileptic seizure.
