Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Edmonds enjoyed huge success in the 90s with the platinum-selling R&B trio After 7, in which he sang with his brother Melvin and Keith Mitchell. After 7 was put on indefinite hold proceeding 1996s compilation set, following which Edmonds collaborated with his other brother, the highly successful producer Babyface, on the one-off Milestone project created for the 1997 movie Soul Food. Comprising the three Edmonds brothers and K-Ci And JoJo from Jodeci, Milestone performed the hit ballad I Care About You. Kevon subsequently began work on his debut solo album, enlisting the help of some of the 90s most successful R&B songwriters and producers, including Darryl Simmons, Babyface and Tim And Bob, and leading session musicians including Nathan East and Greg Phillinganes. The album, released in October 1999, did not stray far from the successful After 7 formula, blending classic soul harmonies with modern beats on a collection divided equally between up-tempo numbers and ballads. Highlights included a duet with Babyface on the ballad A Girl Like You, Never Love You, and the title track, a US Top 10 hit single.
