2 April 1978, Moore, Oklahoma, USA. This country singer-songwriter made an immediate impact with her 2002 debut, When You Lie Next To Me. Coffey began singing as a young child and continued performing throughout her school and college years, majoring at Oklahoma University in Vocal Performance. She moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career, working in film and television and recording song demos in an effort to make a breakthrough. Studio and live work also came her way, the most high profile of which was a stint with Barbra Streisand. Coffey subsequently signed a publishing contract with Warner Chappell and a recording contract with BNA, and hooked up with well-known producer Dann Huff to work on her debut album. Aimed squarely at the adult contemporary radio market dominated by Faith Hill and Shania Twain, When You Lie Next To Me was a pleasant if unassuming collection. The album was buoyed by the Top 10 success of the title track on the country singles chart.
