Joshua Kadison Biography

8 February 1965, Los Angeles, California, USA. Spanning gospel, blues, pop and R&B traditions, singer/pianist Kadisons approach to songwriting is rooted in the art of storytelling. Drama and expansive arrangements introduced his 1993 debut album, and in particular the US Top 10 hit ballad, Jessie. Rod Argent produced the album. Though immediately successful, the approach taken for the follow-up collection, Delilah Blue, was radically different. Shunning synthesizers in favour of live instruments, and moving songs away from introspection to what the artist described as other people as seen through my eyes, it opened with the quasi-religious Listen To The Lambs/The Gospel According To My Ol Man. As if to confirm this change of direction, Kadisons image changed from one of long blonde hair and denim to a close-crop and goatee beard. The album was predictably less successful, and EMI Records dropped Kadison. He released the five track Saturday Night In Storyville in 1998, and followed up with the full-length Troubadour In A Timequake.
