17 July 1965, Kingston Springs, Tennessee, USA. Country singer-songwriter Morgan began his career at the start of the new millennium, but his rise to the upper echelons of the charts was a gradual process and took in an abortive period with a major label. Raised in Nashville in the heart of country music land, Morgan nurtured dreams of becoming a country singer from an early age. After leaving school he ran a mobile car care business before joining the US Army Rangers. In a 10-year service Morgan saw combat duty in Panama as part of Operation Just Cause, but maintained his devotion to music by performing for the troops and writing songs in his spare time. Returning to Tennessee after completing his military service, Morgan worked a number of day jobs to support his family while continuing to play music, sitting in on writers night events and singing on demo sessions. He landed a prime recording contract with Atlantic Records and completed his self-titled debut for the label in 2000. The album generated a number of minor hits, including Something To Write Home About, Paradise, The Kid In Me and I Want Us Back.
After the closure of the recording contract with Atlantic, owing to problems with the labels parent company Warner Brothers Records, Morgan relocated to the small Broken Bow imprint and completed his second album, I Love It. Released in 2003, this collection saw Morgan reach the country Top 10 for the first time with the poignant story song Almost Home, and figured prominently on the Billboard Heatseekers listing. Morgan enjoyed even more success with the follow-up album My Kind Of Livin, with lead off single Thats What I Love About Sunday topping the Billboard country charts for four weeks in early 2005, a remarkable achievement for an artist on an independent label.
